Reduced delivery of gas from Gazprom
PGNiG (Polska Grupa Naftowa
i Gazownicza; eng.: Polish Oil & Gas Company) has reported that delivery of
gas from Russia has dropped by approx. 45 %. It is still in the discussion if
the change is caused by technical problem or for commercial reason.
On September 11, 2014 PGNiG
has published on its website following communicate: “Polish Oil and Gas Company announces that
the supply of natural gas in the framework
of the existing Yamal Contract on
interconnectors in Drozdowicze
(Ukraine), Kondratki (Belarus) and Wysokoje
(Belarus) are still not implemented in accordance with the Company's
folding nominations. Supply deficit on
10.09.2014 r. Amounted
to approx. 45% “.
PGNiG
points out that “In accordance with the Contract Yamal, PGNiG has the
right to receive the amount of
less than or equal to the maximum
capacity specified for each contract entry points, which
are delivered. Volumes ordered by PGNiG were
less than the maximum quantities -
that is, in accordance with the
contract. Still, it has not been
implemented by OOO Gazprom Export”.
To secure a shortage of supply from the east, PGNiG decided by the supply of complementary points: Lasow (Germany) and Cieszyn (Czech Republic).

Company requested clarification from Gazprom what is the
cause of the changes in delivery: if there is a technical problem or the change
is caused by commercial reason.
Currently, due to still mild temperatures there is no need to start
retrieving gas from underground storage
facilities. In the same time, if there was such necessity, the storage is
filled approx. 2.6 billion cubic
meters of gas.
The representative of Gazprom, however, denied in an interview with ITAR-TASS news agency,
allegedly delivery to the Polish were limited.
News agency reports are inaccurate, are delivered
to the Polish gas volume, as in
previous days - 23
million cubic meters/day - said the representative of Gazprom.
