Joint purchase of electricity enabled 36 Polish municipalities to save from 300.000 to 850.000 zl

36 municipalities of Opole's Silesia (south-west of Poland) grouped together to participate in  tender to buy electricity. It is third successful transaction that enabled cities to save significant amount of money.  Estimated savings for electricity for 2015 for all participating municipalities can range from 300 to 850 thousand. zł.

The municipality Strzelce Opolskie was the party which handled the tender for the electricity supply for all the area of Opole's Silesia. The preparation started at the beginning of the year, but the final tender opening took place at the beginning of July. There had been submitted five offers, but the most beneficial one was offered by Tauron.  In this year's final auction amount that municipalities have to Tauron is almost 17 ​​percent. (about 2.8 million zł) lower than normally paid price.
The municipalities (listed below) participated in the tender can dedicate the savings to elsewhere needed resources. Only in the municipality of Strzelce Opolskie the savings will be equal to 75.000 zl, which planned to be dedicated to small investments.

Bought electricity will supply schools, kindergartens, budgetary establishments, municipal companies and cultural institutions located on the territory of covered area. The estimated electricity demand is equal to 50.700 MWh.

Association of Municipalities of Opole’s Silesia consists of 37 municipalities. The official information about the electricity tender did not specify which municipality decided to not take part in the electricity purchase. The list of all municipalities is listed below:

The map presents the location of Silesia on the Polish territory. Geographical area includes also the part on the territory of Czech Republic. The 36 municipalities that took part in tender are located around town called "Opole"
