No comments :
During Economic Forum that took place in Krynica, in 2-4 September 2014, the president of Polish Energy Group (Polska Grupa Energetyczna -  PGE) Marek Woszczyk pointed out that this year’s discussion, in the field of energy, is focued on the energy security of the country. It shall not be surprising, bearing in mind the still ongoing conflict on the line Russia – Ukraine.
During his short speech, which is available on the website of Polish Radio, Marek Woszczyk pointed out that the overall electricity demand in Poland is slightly growing but there is stagnation observed. In comparison to previous years, the demand is not as rapidly growing as before, due to the more frequent purchase of energy-saving appliances. Even though the Polish buy more electronics and home appliances, it does not reflect electricity consumption.

Another topic that has been discussed during the forum was coal’s contribution in the Polish energy mix. Former Deputy Prime Minister, Janusz Steinhoff, stated that coal in future will be very important for the Polish power industry. In his opinion, the origin of this resource will be the most important parameter (whether it will be Polish coal or imported. It is a very valid point in the light of the problems which Polish biggest coal mine is facing at the moment (described in the post from September 3,2014). Poland has big potential for being energetically secure thanks to coal, but one should not forget about the emissions that combustion of coal is generating, and its consequences.
Economic Forum in Krynica is one of the most important conferences on the economic matters in Central-Eastern Europe.  As stated on the website of the forum: “mission of the forum is to create a favorable climate for the development of political and economic cooperation between the EU countries and their neighbors.
