Jan Kulczyk, one of the richest Polish, passed away at the age of 65, due to the complications after the surgery. His company, Kulczyk Investments, was internationally recognized company operating in the energy and oil field, in the production of crude oil.

Jan Kulczyk was the most active in the world Polish entrepreneur. He conducted business in Europe, Africa and South America and Asia. The last big transaction that he finalized was the acquisition of a gold mine in Namibia.
Kulczyk was an entrepreneur operating in the energy sector, oil and gas, mineral resources, infrastructure and real estate. He participated in major transactions and ownership transformations in Poland, initiated and implemented major projects in the field of public-private partnership after Poland liberalized its market.
Jan Kulczyk entered into the business world at the beginning of 1980s with assuming foreign trade company Interkulpol. In 1988 he entered into automotive industry, creating the first Polish distribution network of Volkswagen. In 1991 he established Kulczyk Holding, which since 2007 included in a group Kulczyk Investments.
He was a co-founder and president of the Polish Business Council, chaired the Polish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as he hold president title of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. Since 2006 he has served on the Board of Directors of Green Cross International and since 2007 he served as President of the Council.
In 2010 he founded the CEED Institute, a think tank that promotes the achievement of the new Member States of the European Union. In 2014 he initiated the Polish Council of Investors in Africa. He was a member of the advisory board of the elite international think tank the Atlantic Council.
Jan Kulczyk was also a philanthropist and patron of culture and the arts. He supported the theaters, the construction of museums, charities. He was a Knight of the Order of the Rebirth of Polish. In 2012, Jan Kulczyk Investment House granted 20 million zł for the construction of the main exhibition formed the Warsaw Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Former Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, to show his appreciation, awarded Kulczyk with a title of “patron of culture” (June 2015) given to individuals who express extraordinary interest and involvement in the promotion and restoration of art pieces.  
 
Jan Kulczyk was an extraordinary entrepreneur, giving example to other Polish businessmen. Those, who had an opportunity to work with him highlight his emotional intelligence, willingness to cross borders, visionary approach and need to always go one step further.
 
We would like to express deep condolences to the family and business partners of Jan Kulczyk and wish them strength, respect and love. Polish business world lost outstanding personality that will be very difficult, if not impossible, to replace.
