Households charged abnormally high electricity bills, due to the untruthful data collecting
A few
customers in Pomorskie Voivodeship have faced difficult electricity bill to
swallow. Few households received a bill that equaled to 500 % of its average
value. The case has been reported to the electricity provider in this region
(Energa) and it seems that the responsible for this mistake are data
collectors.
People who received abnormally high electricity bill
filed a complaint, but they were obliged to pay the bill despite the
proceedings. The problem affects about one hundred inhabitants. What makes the
case even more complicated is the fact that the billing period was fell in the
summer season, when one consumers significantly less power. Some households got
bills for approx. 1000 zlotys, but there are some that received 4,000 zlotys to
be paid.
Representatives of Energa in an interview with a
reporter of Radio Gdańsk informed that the accounted amount to be paid is high
because of the unfair, untruthful data collectors (in Poland, there is a
service of collecting data of used electricity from the customers). For several
months, most likely, they wrote information that has not been verified but only
estimated (as had been thought might be possible). The case came to light when
one of the clients reported to the Energa that, in his opinion, the bill was
suspiciously low. Then it turned out that the number of units used is much
higher than those entered in the account – reports Radio Gdańsk.
