Optimistic future of Kazimierz-Juliusz coal mine

after 11 hours of negotiations, on Sunday September 28,2014 there has been
signed an agreement on the future of coal mine Kazimierz – Juliusz. The

Another coal mine faces financial difficulties
24 miners , working for Kazimierz-Juliusz mine in Sosnowiec ( which
is intended to be closed ), did not come out to the surface on
September 24,2014, demanding dialogue with the management on the
critical financial situation of the company. The mine is going to be closed at the turn of September and October and
its situation brought miners into difficulties related not only to the
financial matters but also living conditions.

Bydgoszcz Airport as the first airport investing in RES to sell electricity on the wholesale market
Bydgoszcz Airport is planning to invest in the photovoltaic panels located on the airport's area which cannot be dedicated to "core business". Investment can be highly subsidised ( up to 80 %). The planned photovoltaic farm should have capacity of 25 MW.

Reduced delivery of gas from Gazprom
PGNiG (Polska Grupa Naftowa
i Gazownicza; eng.: Polish Oil & Gas Company) has reported that delivery of
gas from Russia has dropped by approx. 45 %. It is still in the discussion if
the change is caused by technical problem or for commercial reason.

Strike of oil resellers today in Warsaw
Polish
Radio informs about strike of the resellers of the fuel oil
distributed for the heating purposes. The strike is planned to take place in
front of the Polish Parliament (in Warsaw) and relates to currently existing
law causing distributors significant loses. Today's strike will be attended by representatives of companies distributing fuels and their
associates from all over Poland. They
are planning to hand over the statement with their demands to Parliament’s speaker
Ewa Kopacz. Strike is planned to last the whole day, ending at 18:00

Joint purchase of electricity enabled 36 Polish municipalities to save from 300.000 to 850.000 zl
36 municipalities of Opole's Silesia (south-west of Poland) grouped together to participate in tender to buy electricity. It is third successful transaction that enabled cities to save significant amount of money. Estimated savings for electricity for 2015 for all participating municipalities can range from 300 to 850 thousand. zł.

September 2014, the president of Polish Energy Group (Polska Grupa Energetyczna
- PGE) Marek Woszczyk pointed out that
this year’s discussion, in the field of energy, is focued on the energy
security of the country. It shall not be surprising, bearing in mind the still
ongoing conflict on the line Russia – Ukraine.

Rescue plan for Kompania Weglowa
Poland has long tradition of coal
mining, thanks to the large layers of coal on the south-west of the country
(especially in the region of Silesia). After necessary restructuring in the
sector, Kompania Weglowa has been founded. At the moment, it is the biggest
coal mining company in Europe, employing 55 thousand people and extracting approx.
40 mln tons of coal annually. The company has been facing financial
difficulties, therefore there have been taken steps towards drafting reasonable
recovery plan for the firm.

PGNiG plans to have 40 new drillings by the end of 2014 to explore new opportunities in shale gas
Regardless the skepticism on the
Polish shale gas and many companies deciding to quit research in that field,
Polish Gas and Oil (PGNiG) company continues to pursue the works. As onet.pl reports,
PGNiG plans to do 25 more drillings, closing 2014 with the total number of 40
drillings done.
