LNG Terminal in Swinoujscie: very important and very beautiful!

No comments :

LNG Terminal in Swinoujscie is one of the biggest strategic investments in Poland that took place over the course of last decade. It is not only one of the most important constructions for the Polish power sector but, most likely, also “the coolest”. Instagram account (PolskieLNG) of the terminal is full of really beautiful pictures that not only show the size, complexity and progress of the construction but also its magnificence and beauty.

LNG Terminal in Swinoujscie is one of the biggest strategic investments in Poland that took place over the course of last decade. The terminal is in its final stage of being complete and soon, despite delay in the start of operation, should be ready to receive gas from Qatar (contractually the main supplier of LNG ). The main objective of the LNG terminal is reducing dependence on a single supplier of natural gas. At the moment, 82 percent of gas in Poland comes from a single supplier (Gazprom).

In the first stage of the operation of the LNG terminal, it will be possible to receive 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. In the next stage, depending on the growing demand of gas, it will be possible to increase export capacity to 7.5 billion m3, without expanding the area of the terminal. The LNG terminal has two tanks of a storage capacity of 160 thousand cubic meters each.

Construction: overview

Unloading

Unloading of gas will take place using four so-called  “arms” ( on the photo), each of 20-meters height.

Tanks

LNG tank has a height of 52, 5 m. Although it is huge, the lighthouse of Swinoujscie is still the highest object in the area, topping it by 12 meters.

Breakwater structure

Breakwater is a structure built for protecting a beach or harbor, so does the one around the terminal. It is3km long and its constructure consumed 2 million tons of material, 6 thousand tons of steel and 80 thousand cubic meters of concrete. It is the longest breakwater in Europe.

Flare Stack

Flare stacks are primarily used for burning off flammable gas released by pressure relief valves during unplanned over-pressuring of plant equipment.

Regasification

Before natural gas will go to the compressor, (and then follow the process of further delivery) it will be a subject to regasification. On the pictures, there are regasification cabins.
