Polish Power Exchange celebrates 15 years of its establishment
Polish Power Exchange (TGE), to celebrate fifteen
years of its activities, awarded statuettes of “Jubilee Megawatts”. The Board of
TGE honored people who played a significant role in shaping Polish energy
sector and directly contributed to the development of Polish Power Exchange,
for their contribution to the liberalization of the Polish energy sector.
As a result of the liberalization of the electricity
market in Poland from 1 July 2007, the electricity purchaser acquired the right
to change electricity supplier. This is a result of the implementation of the
TPA (Third Party Access), which allows the use of the distribution network to
other entities electricity traders. The institution that is in charge of the
regulation of the Polish power market is
Energy Regulatory Office and to the representatives of this institution
have been awarded with the highest number of statuettes.
The statuettes were awarded on February 24,2015,
during the official jubilee gala.

One of the awarded individuals, Maciej Bando, who
received the statuette from the hands of Ireneusz Lazor, President, stressed
the importance in the new shape of liberalized energy market to URE ( Urzad
Regulacji Energetyki – Energy Regulatory Office ) and their significant efforts
in the development of a competitive and transparent energy market.

Statuettes of “Jubilee Megawatts” were also awarded to:
- Jerzy Buzek, currently Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Parliament's Industry Committee (ITRE),
- Andrzej Czerwinski, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy,
- Jerzy Witold Pietrewicz, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy,
- Marek Woszczyk, former President of the Energy Regulatory Office,
- Wieslaw Rozłucki, co-founder of the Stock Exchange in Warsaw and its first President,
- Ludwik Sobolewski, the second President of the Stock Exchange,
- Janusz Steinhoff, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy in the government of Jerzy Buzek,
- Emil Wąsacz, Treasury Minister in the government of Jerzy Buzek,
- Jan Bury, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Treasury n 2007-2011,
- Leszek Juchniewicz, former President of the Energy Regulatory Office,
- Javier Alonso Perez, the first President of the TGE,
- Jan Buczkowski, the second President of the Energy Exchange,
- Włodzimierz Tyszko, former CEO of Elektrim -Volt and
- Sławomir Sykucki, advisor to the Minister and the Deputy Director of the department in the Ministry of Finance, the longtime director of the energy companies.
