More EU funds to support Polish development
“Operational
Programme "Infrastructure and Environment", adopted by the European
Commission for the period 2014-2020, is the largest source of funding for the
Polish investment in transport infrastructure, environmental protection, energy
and low-carbon economy” stresses the
head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, Maria Wasiak, in an official
statement from the ministry. The funds, except already mentioned purposes, will
serve projects related to health care and culture. Its total budget amounts to
over 27.4 billion euro, which is approx. 115 billion zloty.
Most of the funds will be accredited to projects
related to transportation, so the roads, railways, urban transport, air and
sea. Next in order is the environmental sector. In relation to previous years, 2007-2013,
energy sector will be significantly better funded using the EU financial
subsidies.
The Ministry also informs that 1 billion 828.4
million zloty will go to projects related to a low-carbon economy. Support for
projects that relate to the protection of the environment and combating climate
change will be over 3.5 billion zloty.
Investments that will increase Poland’s energy
security will be donated with 1 billion zloty and projects for the conservation
and development of cultural heritage will be funded with 467.3 million zloty.
