RWE to sell one of the resources exploration companies in Poland
Onet.pl has
informed that German Energy concern RWE plans to sell its sub-company
responsible for the exploration of oil and gas. The company has concession for
exploration of resources in Poland as well.
Dea (the company
which the discussion is taken over) has 190
licenses for exploration of oil and gas
fields around the world, including four exploration licenses in Poland. In addition, the company is the operator of the German underground gas tanks.
The press
information points out that negotiations started long before the conflict over
Crimea and it has no relevance with the current political situation.
RWE is a conventional power generation, the second biggest in Germany. Like other conventional power generators, the company has been hit by the shift to renewable energy in Germany, where subsidized solar and wind energy is increasingly taking the place of fossil fuels – lack of adjustment to the market has caused huge debts amounting to 30 billion euros. It is speculated that decision of selling one of its’ sub-companies was driven by the need of recovering mentioned amount.
